Rantyfaced yelling

I am determined that I'll avoid leaving tweets as hostage to Twitter's pleasure as much as I can, so I may take up microblogging on Dreamwidth in place of most tweeting.

I really strenuously dislike having to abandon bits of writing.

I am up way too late to catch the early bus tomorrow, which is disappointing. I had hoped to avoid driving what with gas prices.

Still yelly about politics. Seriously, though, I don't think I want to be friends with anyone who would vote against letting me get married or control my body.

Similarly unwilling to succumb my tweets to the bowels of Twitter, I’ve been archiving them using a set of Python scripts that are tied to a launch agent, which scrapes the Twitter API and saves them to a local text file. Also grabs mentions, faves and DMs if desired.

I don’t have a complete archive, alas. Some of my mentions are missing, and I don’t have all of my favourites and DMs. But I think I have my complete tweet archive.

It probably wouldn’t take much modification to replicate the Twitter posts you made on Dreamwidth.

My only concern is that Tweepy only supports version 1.0 of the Twitter API at the moment, and I may be forced to go elsewhere when v1.0 is shut off in favour of v1.1 (sometime in March 2013, iirc). But I have six months to find an alternative method, or for Tweepy to get an upgrade. *fingers crossed*

Edit: Well, that was clever. I just decided to check on the scripts, and discovered that I'd replaced my local version with a clone of the Github repo. Which I deliberately removed all of my configuration info from. And then wondered why they weren’t working. *facepalm*
Edited (I had a bit of a brain fart and broke my scripts. Whoops.) 2012-10-12 14:28 (UTC)

I definitely don't want to be friends with people who vote against anyone who wants to having the ability to get married, even if I am heterosexual and wish someone had stopped me from doing so myself (divorced twice [wry g]). As a truly wonderful lady on a pro gay marriage (we have a referendum on the November ballot) commercial here in Washington says, "As a Republican, I don't think the government should be allowed to tell anyone who can and can't get married." (not that I'm a Republican, just to clarify...)

And I definitely don't want to be friends with anyone who thinks they have the right to tell me how to control my body, either, even if, thank the gods, I'm too old now to have to worry about an unwanted pregnancy. There are way too many young women out there who still do, dammit.
