default security

To cut down on the amount of spam I get, and for other reasons that it's harder for me to articulate, I've set a default security of friends only for new entries to my LJ. Some of my new entries here will be edited to public, some of them because I want to share them in public and some because they are public on Dreamwidth and I found a typo I needed to edit.

This change mostly affects people who read me on LJ but who I have not added. I crosspost most of my entries from Dreamwidth. I am azurelunatic there too. Most of my entries over there are public, even many ones that are posted friends-only here. You are very welcome to sign in with OpenID and comment there on the public version. If you use both sites with equal happiness, I prefer to interact on DW.

As of 2011 March 15, non-friends must solve a CAPTCHA to comment here on LJ. Thanks, spammers, for forcing me in the direction of choosing to inconvenience humans to better block you.

2011 10 27 I've turned off comments for the time being. Comments made prior to my Dreamwidth migration are mirrored over there.
(later, same day) Comments are now friends-only for old entries, and are turned off for cross-posts going forward.

2011 11 08 Default security is back to public, but crossposting is no longer automatic. I've been crossposting the stuff I feel is important or significant, and reading as much of my friends page as I can when I have time, but I'm not really here anymore.

2011 12 20 Please see [livejournal.com profile] azz_on_dw for a feed of public entries. Comments on the feed are unlikely to be monitored.

2012 01 11 For locked and filtered entries, sign in to Dreamwidth and visit https://azurelunatic.dreamwidth.org/security/access -- if I haven't granted you access there, let me know and I will make the appropriate considerations.
