Scandalizing our nation's children
Want to scandalize a seven-year-old schoolboy who's been raised with a respect for honesty and the knowledge that if he lies, he gets in so much trouble?
Tell him that you are mad at the US president, George W. Bush, because he lied to the whole country. Mention the last two US presidents with big lies -- Clinton, who lied about his girlfriend, and got in big trouble with his wife, and Nixon, who lied bigtime and got kicked out of being president for it.
Instant Scandalized Kid.

I just have to shake my head every time I hear that comparison.

Kids are so very logical, though. Or at least he is. He likes it when I explain things.
Re:
I suspect that the Little Fayoumis will do something to cause a very similar reaction in me.
Re:
Our parents raised us to make up our own minds on religion. I became a Christian, and my brother a LeVey Satanist (for a while, anyway).
It turned out we were allowed to believe whatever we wanted, as long as we didn't believe in anything.
Re:
Little Fayoumis is getting a nominally-pagan religious education (a vague one) that has room for all religions being OK. It doesn't hurt that he has good examples from at least a few religions around (mainly assorted-pagan and Christian, with a few good Jewish role models as well).
Re:
It may be possible, but that doesn't mean it's a good idea. ^_^ Silly Bush-people.
