One of the concerns about being an Evil Twin who works with her Evil Twin is, of course, behaving in a professional manner at work to the other Evil Twin. Figment and I seem to be doing very well at not taking over the world on company time acting in a professional manner in each other's company.

I barged in a minute after I was technically supposed to be in (but four minutes before I would have officially been Late had I been supervising today) and I was flagged down by the Office Lady, who handed me an official-looking Internal Memo. I got the apprehension. How much trouble was I in this time?

No trouble at all, it turned out! My pay raise (of $0.50 an hour, which works out to a conservative estimate of $30/paycheck with the hours I've been working, though it will be more when I get more hours) went live on the 7th, so I'll be seeing the results of that in the paycheck that I'll be getting sometime later today. Whee! This makes me happy.

I was on the phones again today. The Check-In Princess put me on the same job that Figment was on, a job that calls the East Coast exclusively, and we had a lot of fun. I was sitting next to Trader Joe's Queen Monitor, and we had a great old time chatting when the dialer was slow.

The dialer went down this afternoon. I was so very glad that I wasn't a supervisor today, because I'd have been paranoid about making it crash.

I'm still befuddled by the idea of being thought of as pretty and popular. I wasn't supposed to be pretty and popular, was I?

My personal life has been falling apart. I'm not exactly set up to blame Mercury Retrograde on this one (March 19 - April 12, for those who are interested), but some of the timing has me suspicious.

Right now, I'm struggling. I daily struggle with instincts, bonds, hormones, directives from deities, professionalism, friendship, love, psychology, magic and/or psionics, personal history, friendship, water brotherhood, sleep deprivation, and ghosts. Breakfast every day is an insane cocktail of all of the above plus more blended together and served up on the rocks spiked with Everclear and pure caffeine. No wonder I'm losing weight.

The universe has gone mad, and I have gone mad with it. )

If ever I needed a sign that I need this panic-thing fixed...

My next-door neighbor knocked on my door slightly after seven, with a knocking pattern that I interpreted as urgent. I leaped out of bed and to the door, having gained caution on the way to the door (my peep-hole doesn't work, and I didn't recognize the knock) and she started off, "I'm your next-door neighbor and ... "

Evidently she then got a good look at me, in my nightgown, half-asleep, but radiating the ability to deal with emergencies.

"... never mind," she said, and wandered off before I could collect the words to let her know that since she'd woken me up, I might as well know what the heck she was needing or wanting.

I spent the next half-hour trying to calm down from the shakes so I could go back to sleep.

Bunch of witches? or someone? trying to do something, and they had to collect all the sacred things to make the time go reverse or whatever on them so they could get something done. The rest of the people around them could not be saved, not unless they were one of the select few who could handle it, and they had to bar the room and close the doors so that the effect of the timeswap could be contained and just limited to them, even though one of the group (actually, it was the one whose eyes I was looking from at the time) wanted to open the doors to the larger hall so the people in there could be saved too; I had to be dragged (weeping bitterly) away from the doors while my superior barred it (angsting like fuck as well, because people she loved were out there too).

This happened three times. Each of the first two times (it was looping in the timestream) we had to get some of the people running tech for the show to bring some boxes in the hall that would do the timeloop to save the records therein; the third time, they came in with the boxes, just as we were about to get them, and said, "Can we store these in here? Thanks, great," and wandered out on their own. I wasn't happy that time about leaving them behind either.

Cameo appearance of a whole flock of ravens and some muttered something about names that are really bloody familiar from elselist (Ro, you know of whom I'm speaking here), but it was a cameo, not a crucial appearance, though that crowd cameoing anywhere may be crucial (uncertain). I think I'll give a certain someone a courtesy e-mail to let her know that she and hers cameoed, even though the lack of significance is near-certain.

When I went back to sleep after waking up to give Figment a wakeup call, I was rudely introduced to the fact that I was a female in a government-supported Howard Families type arrangement. I was overjoyed to note that certain bondmates were on the list, and was trying to get in touch with them when I finally woke up...

Today started out like a brilliant day at work: I showed up on time, and got my account re-set so that I can now log in and check my e-mail. This is a crucial function of the work computer profile. I troubleshot my last time's problem, and after logging out as myself, logged in as the generic supervisor account and logged out, so no one would ham-handedly lock out my account by giving it three wrong password attempts again.

I wound up on the phones, and was utterly delighted when I discovered that Figment, while not right next to me, was across from me and down a few, so that he and I could occasionally make faces at each other across the aisle. I was on the Dendarii Brewing Company survey by myself, and got one interview. The dialer was delightfully timely -- it wasn't so slow that I was sitting bored, but it had perhaps thirty seconds between calls on average, so I was quietly and happily writing to myself while working diligently and sounding ever so cheerful and professional on the phones.

Then disaster struck.

I'm not sure what Cute Geek Super did, but the dialer suddenly sped up massively. Instead of hearing a beep, getting a call connected, dealing with the call, waiting for five to thirty seconds, getting another beep, and getting the next call, the calls were coming so fast upon the heels of the last call being dealt with that we were no longer hearing the beep, and most of the calls we were getting were dead air, as the people who'd been on the other end of the line had long hung up. You had to turn your phone off in order to log out, which you're not supposed to have to do.

This kept up for an hour and a half before it slowed down for a blessed fifteen minutes -- before speeding up again! [livejournal.com profile] trystan_laryssa, [livejournal.com profile] dustraven, several others and I were up every ten to fifteen minutes telling Cute Geek Super that it was still bad, bad, bad, wrong, and evil. Cute Geek Super called IT; IT did not call back. By the time break came around for us 1:00 pm people, I was dead-tired and near-unto brain-dead. I spent the first half of lunch break shaking and listening to Figment rant about his day so far, and the second half of lunch break clasping Figment's hand to my forehead.

"Do you think chocolate will help?" he finally asked me.
I shuffled through and discarded several possible responses (I don't think it'll help, I think I have some, you don't need to, I love you) before finally settling on the perfect one: "My hero!"
He trailed me out with him to his car, and I was given chocolate. This managed to get me through the next half-hour. The dialer was still behaving badly, so when my deadline hit and the dialer was still bad, I logged out, found the Check-In Princess (Cute Geek Super was on break) and went home.

I was shaking and incoherent by that time. I was not at all happy.
