I opted for sleep this morning. Sis came home from work early, and was on the phone about her grandmother a lot. I went to work.
Today I was on the phones. I only got a little book done; I'll have to write more of it, and more, and more... and type. Yes, typing is good.
Yesterday, I got my name badge from work. It's ghastly, but it's mine, and I am perversely proud of having it. I also cherish the ambition to re-do it at home and print it out and wear that badge instead.
Brunch today featured ginger/spearmint Scary Tea, which will, we are to hope, have the intended effect of kicking my lagging cycles in the ovaries and getting on with the shedding process already.
Hung out with Figment and
othercat (and Figment's friend/carpool partner). Much giggling. Figment is relatively clean-minded, or at least tries to stay that way.
After four hours on a job, I get a little worn-down. Five hours has me zorked. Six hours hurts. I would have loved to swap over to $PROFESSIONAL_JOB from the goddamn beer survey, but no such luck.
And I like the beer survey.
Figment and I had a mild and polite political disagreement. He thinks that Bush is a better choice than Kerry. I disagreed. I brought up Kermit the Frog. We both agreed that Kermit was a much better choice for President than either of the two major party candidates. Kermit is my "I disagree with you, you disagree with me, the system sucks, and I'm glad we both can agree on that!" compromise. Plus, he'd make a decent leader, because he's a nice guy. (Kermit the Frog is to be distinguished from my 6th-grade ex-boyfriend Kermit, because Kermit-my-ex is younger and human.)
Came home to find Sis and her car gone, and the apartment very deserted-feeling and sleepy. Turned out she's spending the night with her mom. It's spooky that her absence makes that big of a change in the feel of the place. Chatted with my bro, called V, and made plans to have her come over with her new laptop tomorrow. I warned her that the decor in this place is somewhere between college student, parent, witchy, and technofreak. She thought she'd feel right at home. I mentioned the cats, and she lit up.
Hooray cats, and hooray new laptops. Also, hooray big brothers, who get away with ordering me to sleep.
