When I woke up around five-something this morning, [livejournal.com profile] eris_raven had peed on the slightly damp bathroom rug. Again.

I could not cope. First I freaked out, and then I continued to freak out. I tried to go back to sleep, but sleep was not forthcoming.

I was still freaking out when I got back from the plasma place around ten or so. Another nap, and work, and even after a really excellent day at work, I could still feel the potential for immediate tears underlying my feeling of general well-being.

Required for sanity: a full-body snuggle session (in person or virtual) with a bondmate, and a conversation with same, preferably with some being-held while I go "Argh" about all the little things that shouldn't matter but do.

The problem is not the cat. The problem is that I'm coming unglued again.

The problem is probably broken hormones, too much stress, and lack of effective coping strategies in the absence of serious, regular, full-body, full-mind snuggle sessions with bondmates.

--six interviews on the recruitment for the panel (!!!) (typical is 0-3 interviews)
--a break card IOU from the Quiet Geek Super (see above outstanding performance)
--singing TMBG in the break room
--talking with an 81-year-old man whose life philosophy was that it's all one big joke (just the person I needed to talk to today)

Evidently my "I am professional and enunciating very clearly" voice comes across as some variety of English accent. I demonstrated for [livejournal.com profile] marxdarx at home, and (much to my amazement) realized that yes, I had indeed heard that same enunciation as an accent before -- the very precise and lovely speech of Mrs. W (I think they're divorced or separated now, sadly) from the Friends community back home. An authentic speaker would probably be able to tell my precision from an actual English accent, but it's definitely nice to be able to place the precise reason why some people on the phones tell me that I sound like I'm European.

I am now unbearably smug on behalf of a friend.

That is all.

Taurus Horoscope for week of September 23, 2004

Your superstitious fears may nag you more than usual in the coming weeks. That's the bad news. The good news is that it's highly unlikely the feared events will actually come to pass. To help dispel your unnecessary worries, I suggest you dream up and carry out a banishing ritual. For example, you could write down what you're afraid of, and then burn the piece of paper in the flame of a red candle as you cackle and chant, "You have no [insert an energizing taboo word here] power over me!"
Hmm.

Gemini Horoscope for week of September 23, 2004

"I'm not afraid of snakes or spiders," says Gemini actress Nicole Kidman, "just butterflies." According to my astrological analysis, that could be an apt motto for many of you Geminis in the coming weeks. You'll probably love your playful wrestles with serpent-like people and enjoy your shadow dances with web-weavers. You'll thrive in the wake of intense emotions and enigmatic twists of fate. On the other hand, you'll be in danger of losing your focus during airy encounters with delicate creatures; you'll have to be vigilant to avoid getting thrown off course by pretty ephemera and lightweight pleasures.
Such as, um, Zuma?

Cancer Horoscope for week of September 23, 2004

One of the best-selling books in France in recent months has been Bonjour Paresse, or "Hello Laziness." The author, Corinne Maier, encourages employees to perfect the art of goofing off on the job. In the coming week, Cancerian, you should follow her advice not only at work but in every area of your life. I admire you for being so conscientious and putting so much effort into everything you do, but you're way overdue for some major slacking off. I'll go so far as to say that you have a spiritual need to vegetate. This is one time when you'll get my blessing if you decide to sit in a comfortable chair and daydream of nothing in particular as you watch the wind blow.

There's some new code live on the site. There may be odd things happening. One of the affected pages is update.bml.

Known already: tab order is screwy, you must select the month by hand otherwise it won't update, the preview image shown is not necessarily the image that goes with that keyword (weird sort issue, allegedly with a fix in the works), and probably others.
